Materials research: Non-design materials

 Today, I'm doing material research for my material architecture board. This is the hardest part because I'm not very good at building materials.

I started with the harder parts (Thermal insulation, Waterproofing, Attachments and subsystems) It's non-design materials, so I was supposed to fully delve into this topic to choose the highest quality materials that will last a long time.

Thermal insulation

Choosing good thermal isolation material is very important because the house will be built in a tricky climate. Usually, we have two options EPS or Mineral wool. EPS is cheap but has poorer sound insulation. Mineral wool is more expensive but for the client good sound insulation is a priority so I chose this material.

Waterproofing

For waterproofing, I decided to use Polymer membranes. Compared to sealants (silicone and polyurethane-based), Bitumen membranes, and Acrylic sealants this material is very high quality, and long-lasting. Because the house has a lot of windows, it is the most comfortable option.

Attachments and subsystems

After a little bit of research, I found out that it can be stainless steel is strong and durable, but expensive, however, galvanized steel is cheaper, but is prone to corrosion over time. Even house is supposed to be cheap I can't trade quality for price. So, I decided to choose an expensive one.
