Welcome to the beginning of the 2 Term
Hello, It's Veronika I disappeared for a month because were on Christmas holiday. I had a nice time with family and hope you also did however I got ill and spent days in bed at least I definitely had quite lazy rest days in Devon. I had never been there in winter and this sunny and shiny region that became dark, windy and scary gave me a lot of inspiration, days when I felt better I spent outside walking and breathing this clear, yummies than ever cold air. Also, I took many pictures of different places there and want to share them with you.
Today, was my first day at university after brake and I'm starting a new module called Art Portfolio in the next couple of months, I will post my road till the final outcome of this module. In the first lesson, we did an Ice Braker task The essence was trying to parody famous drawings or pictures. It was a group exercise I with my partner chose the famous René Magritte oil painting "The Lovers". When he was 14 years old his mother drowned. The young boy saw her face when the police took her out from the water and he saw that her shirt curled around her face. A lot of people think that this suicide incident was a reason for this mystical style however Rene Magritte never proved this guesses. Furthermore, he said “They evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question, ‘What does it mean?’ It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing, it is unknowable.”
However, we decided that the kiss in this picture was a little bit unsuitable for us and it would be uncomfortable so we decided to ask the teacher if it was possible to use an image from the same artist and we stopped on "The Lovers I"
The Lovers I, 1928 by Rene Magritte
At the start, we found a fabric that we used as cloth and as a background.
Next, we cut fabric for face covering.
Furthermore, we used blue sugar paper for the background and different shades of green fabric to create a view of the forest.
Also, cotton creates clouds
This is our final piece.
I enjoyed this task. It was an exciting experience, and we had fun with my partner. The final picture does not look very similar however, it contains some related details.
