Art Portfolio Two: Initual visual research (Tower Of Winds)

Today, after I created a couple initial scetches, I began to think about more detailed improvment. I have been very interested in the Tower of Winds that was designed by Toyo Ito.

This architect has a concept to express the importance of nature, technology, and life by his creation. He combined his project with city life, establishing a direct symbolic connection between nature and the installation. "His influence was the music of the environment combined with human interaction and the effect upon it". The tower in the day shows the reflection of movements by mirrored panels. I found this very exciting; humans are quite selfish, and usually, we look in the mirror 3-4 times per day. Because of social media, we avoid looking at our real outselves. But this idea makes us look at ourselves using a full picture of life; it makes us think that there is not just ourselves, but something more. At night, the Tower of Wind plays a bigger role. It transfers the sound and wind into light. Show people how their life sounds reflected in the light movements, and show what a light orchestra we create together, including not just our personalities but also the tone of our everyday lives. The lighting has a thousand different combinations, a couple of them possible to see on the images below. All this work do 2 computers that react to wind and sounds and transfer them in powering 1,300 lamps, 12 neon rings, and 30 spotlights at its base. The colour of the lamp changes depending on the power that can be collected.

Toyo Ito did a perfect technical part that even construction looks like work of art the photo possible to see below. Also, the tower has water tanks that service the air conditioning equipment for the underground shopping mall.

I think it's a very inspiring project that combines technology, architecture, people and busy city life. This is an adjective for how architecture can reflect people's everydayness in a piece of art. This makes us think about the fact that our life is art with a new combination of light.
