Art Portfolio: Major Project Presentation Feedback

Today, I presented my project presentation to my cohorts. We did this practice to collect their feedback and create a possibility for new ideas using their projects, comments that will help do some improvements and advice that can be helpful. To collect feedback I had a Google Documents form where my audience left comments.

The first question sounds like "What is the project about? What theme are they using and what is the concept? Was this easy to understand?"

I'm happy that everyone clearly understood what my project was about, the topic and the concept, their answers showed this.

The second question was "How did they develop their initial ideas into their project idea? Was the initial research and development well done?"

The comments show that I clearly explained my developing road. Firstly I planned to create ecosystem balls but further I couldn't do it so I changed to a glass tunnel. Also, there were words like "She experimented with various designs" which shows me that I haven't stuck with one idea and got out of my comfort zone and did a new design every time.

The further question was "What new skill or technique was the student learning through creating this project? Do you think that the student is challenging themselves through this project work?"

In my presentation I did separate slides for this kind of information however there was a comment "the safety priority to consider when designing a bridge." I did not mention it, but now I understand that I learned this aspect but never thought about it as a separate skill. However, I am happy that through a presentation people saw more than even I can see about myself.

The next question was "How well did the student present the work? Please give a score out of 5 with 5 being the highest"

The comments show that my presentation was clear, and I showed good processes and skills that I learned, however, there was a mention that they wish to see examples of design that I did research on. I didn't place them in the presentation but in future, I will do it because now I understand that people want to expect to see it. Also, the teacher mentioned that I had a good-quality presentation and slides furthermore, I was talking fluently about my idea. These aspects show me that I am going the right way because if a person talks confidently that proves the fact that I'm sure of my idea.

Further question was "How would you mark the students’ project at this stage? Please give a score out of 5 with 5 being the highest"

The one cohort marked me as 3.5. I do agree with this because I'm a little behind my timeline also they mentioned that I already did my prototype but did not explain which development I would add to my additional 3D outcome. However, for now, I'm not ready to start creating my outcome because firstly I want to do my design digitally with all dimensions and then I will be able to analyse these aspects. While I will do digital analysis some parts of design can be changed.

The last question was "Please write any further comments here… (for example on how the work was presented, the clarity of the presentation etc)"

My colleagues left comments that after they saw my sketches and heard my idea they wanted and waited to see the final outcomes. However, they have also been worrying about my project at the early stage of the process. I'm also been worried about it however I still keep everything under control and there is no reason for panic.

This presentation really helped me to organize everything because when you explain your idea, progress and plan for other people the picture of what you have already done and what need to do and improve is very clear in your head. This experience helped me to see what I needed to finish and also, I stabilized my priorities for further steps. I was so concentrated on sketches that I lost myself in them, and now it's time to move forward fast.
